Very early in the morning of November 20, 2018, I turned off my computer. Microsoft automatically downloaded a “critical update.” Two hours later when I tried to use the computer, I could not. I could not leave the startup page. I haven’t been on the computer since that morning. I am now using our local library’s computers and have not yet decided if I will try to have my computer repaired. However, it is time to start blogging again. Since I also can’t get into my old Microsoft accounts, I’m starting a new blog as of Saturday, May 4, 2019.

I created a “Wall of Shame” a few years ago for really horrendous Legislative votes and Governor’s actions. It is time for a “Hall of Honor” for actions above and beyond the call of duty. The first such “Hall of Honor” goes to the Mayor and Trustees of the Village of Morton, Illinois who prohibited marijuana businesses within the village limits the same day that the law went into force. The mayor proposed the ordinance and the Trustees passed the ordinance 6-0. The “Hall of Honor” not includes the El Paso Mayor and Council and 6 members of the Naperville City Council.

There was some questionable information about this vote in the article that I used. Two members of the Naperville City Council contacted me about it. I asked one of the two to send me the actual motion as voted upon. I received it Saturday when the library was closed. That motion stated:
“A motion in substitution [A motion replacing the previous motion. The previous motion was not voted upon and I am not providing it here.] was made by Councilman Coyne, seconded by Councilman Hinterlong, for Option 1: to pass the ordinance amending Title 3 of the Naperville Municipal Code by the addition of Chapter 17 prohibiting adult use cannabis business establishments other than medical cannabis cultivation centers and medical cannabis dispensing organizations and to direct staff to bring back a report within 60 days that advises Council concerning including an advisory (non-binding) referendum question on a future election ballot.”
Also from the council member who furnished the motion: “ … the three who voted against made it clear that they were only voting against because they wanted the motion to include more specific details regarding what specific [future election] ballot the referendum will be on:”
I apologize for the confusion. Newspaper articles generally don’t give the specific motion for a vote or the reasons why the members are voting for or against the specific motion.

made-made global warming “crisis.” Some areas in Illinois had record snow and
cold on Monday and Tuesday. Peoria had record cold Tuesday and a record low
high temperature. Made-made global warming was a lie, is a lie, and will be a

month New York will become the 13th state in the U.S. to give illegal
immigrants [aliens] driver’s licenses [It is absurd to give State driver’s
licenses to people who ARE NOT in this country legally. They ARE NOT suppose to
be in this nation. They certainly should not be driving in this nation.] and
officials in counties throughout the Empire State warn they are not equipped to
handle the predicted onslaught. One state lawmaker is offering free care for
the children of illegal aliens who attend a workshop to help them navigate the
process of obtaining a license [Obscene.]. More than half a million
undocumented immigrants [illegal aliens] are expected to qualify and all they
need is an expired passport, consulate identification or license from their
country of citizenship [Seriously? They don’t even need to know the laws of the
State in relation to driving within the State?].
Local
Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) clerks throughout New York are deeply
concerned about their ability to authenticate the unfamiliar documents [I would
think so.]—written in foreign languages [How many different foreign languages?]—acceptable
under the new law to obtain a license [This is how Leftist socialists govern
within their States.]. One county clerk in the state’s eastern region said in a
local news report that
his office, which services a population of about 160,000, will not issue
licenses to illegal aliens and instead will let the state deal with the
applicants [Good for that County clerk.]. ‘They want to [sic.] us to make a
decision right at the window as to whether something is fraudulent or
acceptable,’ Rensselaer County Clerk Frank Merola said in the article. ‘I’m not
going to make a major mistake.’ In the state’s southern tier, Chemung County
Clerk Catherine Hughes blasted lawmakers for leaving her and her colleagues to
deal with the mess [What else would one expect from Leftist socialists?]. ‘They
don’t really realize the ramifications that it causes by doing something like
this [Don’t bother them with details. Do as they command.],’ said Hughes, who serves
a population of about 90,000. ‘There are no set of rules and regulations on how
to get it done. And that puts us county clerks in a very precarious situation
because we don’t know how to do it [Just do it as commanded.].’
Officials in some New York counties have filed lawsuits to block
the measure [As they should.], officially called the Driver’s
license Access and Privacy Act but popularly known as the
Green Light Law, from being implemented. It was passed by the legislature over
the summer and signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo after he was assured federal
immigration officials would not be able to obtain DMV records. That’s where the
‘privacy’ portion of the bill’s language comes in. Officials in several
counties—including Erie, Monroe and Rensselaer—are suing to thwart the law,
which is scheduled to take effect on December 14. New York State Senator Julia Salazar,
a former community organizer and proud member of the Democratic Socialists of
America [They are all socialists whether or not they officially belong.],
announced this week that she is holding an “informational session” to
guide illegal immigrants [aliens] through the process of obtaining a license.
Free childcare will be provided, according to the announcements, which were
issued in English and Spanish.
Besides New York, a dozen states and the District of Columbia
[The District constitutionally is suppose to be governed by Congress.] have
enacted laws to allow illegal immigrants [aliens] to obtain driver’s licenses,
according to the National Conference of
State Legislatures. They include California [A Leftist socialist
State.], Colorado [Moving in the direction of becoming a Leftist socialist
State.], Connecticut [A Leftist socialist State.], Delaware [A Leftist
socialist State.], Hawaii [A Leftist socialist State.], Illinois [A Leftist
socialist State.], Maryland [A Leftist socialist State.], New Mexico [Moving in
the direction of becoming a Leftist socialist State.], Nevada [Moving in the
direction of becoming a Leftist socialist State.], Utah [Moving in the
direction of becoming a Leftist socialist State.], Vermont [A Leftist socialist
State.] and Washington [A Leftist socialist State.]. More than half of the
states passed their measures in 2013 [During the Obama Administration and
encouraged by the Obama Administration to do so.]. In 2019 several
states—including Florida, Kansas, Minnesota and North Carolina—introduced
legislation to grant illegal aliens driver’s licenses, but those haven’t been
resolved and it’s not clear if they’ll pass [They SHOULD NOT pass.]. This week
the Department of Justice (DOJ) challenged New York’s soon-to-be-implemented
measure, writing in a federal court filing that it conflicts with federal law
[Then, it should not be approved because when there is a conflict with federal
law, the federal law is supreme according to the Constitution.].
New York is also undermining national security,
according to a report published by a Washington D.C. think tank dedicated to
researching U.S. immigration policy. New York’s Green Light Law equips illegal
aliens and others with nefarious intentions with legitimate, state-issued
identification, prohibits federal authorities from using information maintained
by the state’s DMV [They can’t do that constitutionally.] and inhibits public
safety [Duh.] as well as immigration enforcement [Exactly.]. ‘The federal
government should not simply surrender to the unreasonable and potentially
unconstitutional limitations imposed on federal immigration and local law
enforcement agencies by this law [As the Obama Administration did.],’ the
Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) writes in its extensive report, which
includes ideas to circumvent New York’s law. Among them is withholding federal
funding and taking legal action [Should do both.]. Over the summer a federal
appellate court ruled that the Trump administration
could withhold federal funding to local governments that offer illegal
immigrants sanctuary.”
