Very early in the morning of November 20, 2018, I turned off my computer. Microsoft automatically downloaded a “critical update.” Two hours later when I tried to use the computer, I could not. I could not leave the startup page. I haven’t been on the computer since that morning. I am now using our local library’s computers and have not yet decided if I will try to have my computer repaired. However, it is time to start blogging again. Since I also can’t get into my old Microsoft accounts, I’m starting a new blog as of Saturday, May 4, 2019.

I created a “Wall of Shame” a few years ago for really horrendous Legislative votes and Governor’s actions. It is time for a “Hall of Honor” for actions above and beyond the call of duty. The first such “Hall of Honor” goes to the Mayor and Trustees of the Village of Morton, Illinois who prohibited marijuana businesses within the village limits the same day that the law went into force. The mayor proposed the ordinance and the Trustees passed the ordinance 6-0. The “Hall of Honor” not includes the El Paso Mayor and Council and 6 members of the Naperville City Council.

There was some questionable information about this vote in the article that I used. Two members of the Naperville City Council contacted me about it. I asked one of the two to send me the actual motion as voted upon. I received it Saturday when the library was closed. That motion stated:
“A motion in substitution [A motion replacing the previous motion. The previous motion was not voted upon and I am not providing it here.] was made by Councilman Coyne, seconded by Councilman Hinterlong, for Option 1: to pass the ordinance amending Title 3 of the Naperville Municipal Code by the addition of Chapter 17 prohibiting adult use cannabis business establishments other than medical cannabis cultivation centers and medical cannabis dispensing organizations and to direct staff to bring back a report within 60 days that advises Council concerning including an advisory (non-binding) referendum question on a future election ballot.”
Also from the council member who furnished the motion: “ … the three who voted against made it clear that they were only voting against because they wanted the motion to include more specific details regarding what specific [future election] ballot the referendum will be on:”
I apologize for the confusion. Newspaper articles generally don’t give the specific motion for a vote or the reasons why the members are voting for or against the specific motion.

I wasn’t at the library Monday and Tuesday because of the
fake made-made global warming “crisis.” Some areas in Illinois had record snow
and cold on Monday and Tuesday. Peoria had record cold Tuesday and a record low
high temperature. Made-made global warming was a lie, is a lie, and will be a
lie in the future.

Golf Course on Friday afternoon, and June Eastwood [A male competing as a female.] helped the
Grizzlies claim the top five spots in the women’s race with a first-place
finish.
Eastwood had finished second to freshman Beatrix Frissell at Montana’s first two races this fall. On Friday they did what they’ve been doing all season [Third race this year.] -- running mostly side by side -- but this time Eastwood got to the tape first, by a mere tenth of a second.

‘Coach talks about having synergy as a team, and I think that’s the case with me and Bea. We work really well together,’ said Eastwood. ‘We went in wanting to work together. We moved through the course really well and put a good race effort in.’

Nearly
two decades after its well-documented transgressions culminated in the worst
terrorist attack on U.S. soil [9/11], the federal law enforcement agency
responsible for protecting the country against a repeat [The Federal Bureau of
Investigation (FBI)] still struggles to do its job and it has cost dozens of
American lives. The failures have allowed homegrown violent extremists (HVE) [Also
known as domestic terrorists] to carry out more than 20 attacks in the U.S.
since 9/11, some of them after the agency, the FBI, closed counterterrorism
investigations of the attackers [Closed the investigations before the attacks.].
The
negligence has resulted in the death of 70 people murdered by at least six
terrorists who had been under investigation by the FBI, according to a report issued
recently by the Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General [IG]. In all the
probes the FBI closed the cases quickly after ruling that the extremists
presented no threat to national security [The FBI is an agency within the
Department of Justice.]. The agency examined its mishaps in the aftermath of the
deadly events. ‘Following these attacks, the FBI conducted reviews and
determined there were weaknesses in its HVE assessment processes [Obviously.],’
the agency watchdog writes in its report. ‘However, we found that the FBI has not taken sufficient action to
address these weaknesses.’ There is more that may not have been
included in the probe. The DOJ IG goes on to disclose that ‘in 2017 [The first
year of the Trump Administration.], the FBI conducted an enterprise-wide review
and identified potential terrorist threats that may not have been adequately
assessed during calendar years (CY) 2014 through 2016 [During the last three
years of the Obama Administration.], which amounted to 6 percent of the total
assessments reviewed. We found that the FBI did not take adequate action on
nearly 40 percent of these assessments for 18 months [40%. Seriously? That is a
huge percentage given the importance of the investigations].’
The
latest FBI transgressions resulted in some of the deadliest terrorist attacks
since Islamic jihadists [Islamic terrorists.] carried out their plots in 2001,
killing [murdering] thousands of innocent Americans. They include the 2009
massacre at the Fort Hood Army base in Texas [Which occurred during the Obama
Administration], the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing [Which occurred during the
Obama Administration], the 2016 mass shooting at an Orlando, Florida nightclub [Which
occurred during the Obama Administration] and the 2017 attack at the Fort

mass shooting occurred at Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport in
Broward County, Florida, United States, on January 6, 2017, near the baggage
claim in Terminal 2. Five people were killed while six others were injured in
the shooting. About 36 people sustained injuries in the ensuing panic.” Which
also occurred during the Obama Administration since the Trump Administration
did not begin until January 20, 2017.]. In 2011 the FBI opened a counterterrorism lead into
Nidal Hasan, the perpetrator of the Fort Hood shooting, but the probe was closed five months later after agents
evidently determined that Hasan did not pose a national security threat
[Obviously, a terrible decision.]. Months later he massacred [murdered] 13
people at a U.S. military post. The Orlando shooter, Omar Mateen, was also
under FBI investigation before he carried out his attack for making statements
that displayed his radicalized ideology. Less
than a year later the probe was closed after agents ruled the information to be
unfounded [Obviously, a terrible decision.]. Mateen killed [murdered]
46 people.
Boston
Marathon terrorist Tamerlan Tsarnaev was also on the FBI’s radar before his
attack, but the agency decided that he and his terrorist brother, Dzhokhar
Tsarvaev, did not pose a threat to national security, according to the IG
report [Wrong again. A decision that cost the lives of innocents.]. Tamerlan
Tsarnaev, the older brother who was eventually killed in a wild shootout with police,
was under investigation by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) after
Russian authorities notified the agency that he had become radicalized. The Obama
administration could
have deported Tamerlan Tsarnaev years before he detonated bombs
at a major sporting event over a criminal arrest, according to
information uncovered by Judicial Watch shortly after the bombings that killed
three and injured hundreds. The government also dropped the ball on Esteban
Santiago, who killed five people in a 2017 attack at the Fort Lauderdale
Airport. Weeks before the rampage, the FBI closed Santiago’s probe ruling that
he did not pose a threat to national security [Obviously, a terrible decision.].
It
seems that little has changed since 9/11. After the attacks, the FBI got
blasted for missing many opportunities to stop the hijackers and failing to
uncover important intelligence about them [This failure occurred during the
Clinton Administration since the actual attack occurred within months of the
new Bush Administration. It normally takes at least a full year and sometimes
during the entire first term for a new administration to actually take control
of the many agencies and bureaus within the federal government.]. In fact, a
DOJ IG report disclosed
that the FBI missed
at least five opportunities before the 2001 terrorist attacks to uncover
crucial intelligence about the perpetrators [including overstaying
their Visas]. The watchdog specifically blamed the FBI for not knowing that two
of the 9/11 hijackers lived in the U.S. and for failing to follow up on an
agent’s theory that Osama bin Laden was sending students to American flight
schools. A decade and a half later, a panel created by Congress to determine if
the FBI had adopted post-9/11 recommendations found that the problems
persisted. In a 2015 report the
9/11 Review Commission was critical of the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force’s
ability to detect terror plotters before they strike and found the agency’s
computer hacking investigations were lacking [Again, this report by Congress
was during the Obama Administration.].”
